And have an idle hour or so over the weekend? I’m buying a car from JLR Albuquerque. It’s CPO, but I was hoping to get some impartial eyes on the car before I pay in full. Just a quick qualitative look to make sure that they’re not lying out of their teeth and I’m not getting a train wreck of a car.
Thanks in advance!

Actually, I’m heading up to abq tomorrow morning for the weekend. I’m sure I could stop by and give it a look.

Wobbles is also in ABQ, too.

Thanks! Let me know if you plan to go, and I’ll inform the dealer that “ITA97" is about to drop in.......!

Ooo! I work from 7am to 5pm tomorrow though. I bought the 2012 XF from them two years ago and havent ever received a shadey vibe whenever a service came up (or just kicking tires).
In fact, I got the XF partly because they were busy and let me test drive it alone. Didnt even take my driver’s license, just said what time they closed and apologized for being busy.

Thanks all! They only have one CPO XJL, silver MY2014.

Sweet! I’m a huge supporter of any Jags after the 2012 model year since they are as reliable as any other luxury brand. Just make sure you fiddle with every button and that the fuel door actually opens.
Also note that Jags dont stop depreciating even though the prices become stable. Most XJLs will list for $35,000 but actually have resale values below $25,000.

It will probably be late afternoon, but I’ll stop by and check it out.

True, although the alternatives will depreciate just the same, except maybe the Lexus LS which probably holds value better after 6-7 years old.

Thecar looked okay overall, but had a low battery. It would shut itself off as soon as the ignition was switched on. I wasn’t able to start it or operate accessories. The sales guy claimed they had just moved it and said they would put it on a charger. I’d recommend getting them to put a new battery in it.
Tires were new. I saw no evidence of collision damage or any bodywork done. However, the overall finish struck me as a car that has lived outside, and they did a quick compound on it. There were some small scratches on the passenger side that had been touched up, along with some touched up rocking chipping on the front. It certainly hasn’t been Svended or anything like that.
Things looked tidy and clean inside, but I did spot some small bubbling of the vinyl on the lower driver’s door card and the chrome trim on the console. That is usually from a car spending lots of time in the sun in really hot temperatures. I was surprised to see that on a car from Central/northern NM, as I usually only see that in cars that lived in far hotter places like Phoenix.
My overall impression was good, but won’t be mistaken for showroom fresh. Some paint correction would a long ways on it.

Thanks a bunch! Yes, the car had lived in AZ before. I hope that brown stuff is dust and sand. How can I repay you for your time??

No worries. I hadn’t been in one of these before, and it was fun to check out. Neat car.

Yes, the brown stuff was dried dirt.

Thanks again. Based on your observations the car looks decent, years of CPO left and I’ll have the battery issue sorted out and very likely buy it. And then when I get the car I’d do paint correction and fix the interior bits.
